چکیده

In this study, thymol was covalently connected to mesoporous silica nanomaterial by a post-grafting method obtain stable antibacterial system, thus overcoming the volatilization of thymol, prolonging effective time action, and enhancing efficiency thymol. It proposed for first that such synthetic route be adopted synthesize silica-based mesoporous/essential oil materials. The could capable retaining original structure, which effectively avoid porosity reduction disordered products caused condensation. Among them, minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) functionalized MCM-41 (silica support) E. coli S. aureus were 0.3 mg mL−1 0.4 mL−1, equivalent 3/4 4/5 free (0.4 0.5 mL−1), respectively. Meanwhile, MBC SBA-15 both 0.2 also reduced These results revealed thymol-functionalized efficiently improve activities organic component. Finally, inhibition mechanism strategy discussed, referred how material directly acts on cell membrane, resulting in inactivation.

Preparation, purification, and characterization of aminopropyl-functionalized silica sol.

A new, simple, and "green" method was developed for the surface modification of 20 nm diameter Stöber silica particles with 3-aminopropyl(diethoxy)methylsilane in ethanol. The bulk polycondensation of the reagent was inhibited and the stability of the sol preserved by adding a small amount of glacial acetic acid after appropriate reaction time. Centrifugation, ultrafiltration, and dialysis were...

Preparation and Characterization of TiO2 Nanoparticles Prepared by Sol-Gel Method

In this study, TiO2 nanoparticles have been synthesized by sol-gel method. Then, the effects of the different pHs, stirring times, surfactants (CTAB and Span 20) and temperatures on TiO2 nanoparticles were studied. The X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses were used to characterize the samples. The obs...

Characterization, photocatalytic, and antibacterial activity of Ag–TiO2 nanoparticles prepared by electrical arc discharge method

A simple, inexpensive and one-step synthesis route of Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles by arc discharge method isreported. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electronmicroscopy. X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate dominance of rutile to anatase phase in TiO2 andformation of silver metal on TiO2 after arc discharge process. Scanning electron microscopy im...
